Maria Nieves Alvarez was born in Caracas, Venezuela on August 19, 1960. In 1980, she graduated as Technical Engineer in Chemical Processes at the Capital Region Technology Institute in Caracas, and in 1990 as Superior Process Chemical Engineering at the Central University of Venezuela. She has worked at PDVSA until 2002 and after 2002 at PEMEX-VEPICA-DRAGADOS, FLUOR, REPSOL. 37 years of dedication to the areas of:          

Specialized technical assistance in the Oil and Petrochemical Industry focused on the catalytic conversion processes of FCC, Alkylation, Coking Units (Flexi and Delayed), Olefins and Ammonia. Experience in the area of ​​processes, catalysis evaluation and development, Units troubleshooting, heavy crude, extra heavy and synthetics crudes impact in refinery schemes, Bitumen and extra heavy crudes transformation to synthetics crudes  PDVSA, PEMEX, REPSOL.         

Analysis of Refining schemes and new products, impact of crude quality through Refining scheme, support in process upgrading for new products and units revamp.Processes Technical / Economic feasibility study in order to transform : CITGO LEMMONT, Corpus Christy Refineries from  light to Heavy and synthetic Oil Refineries            

Rigorous and Non Rigorous models:  kinetic models of rigorous FCC simulation, methodology analysis for development of delta bases from Kinetics models to PIMS models,  statistical models for process analysis and multi variables. Process Models and their impact on linear programming models.  Non lineal models for Process integration, On line analytics for process unit digitalization.          

Research and Development (R & D)Development of techniques and methodologies for the evaluation of FCC catalysts and additives in the laboratory and pilot plants, scaling those  results to real Commercial Unit operation. Catalysis R&D, crude and current analysis and their impact on the refining scheme, new methodologies of standard analysis and his correlation with refinery impact.
